Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American actress and singer whose acting variety earned her acclaim in a variety of genres ranging from period drama to thriller and action adventure. Johansson was born in New York City, and was raised by an father who was an architect and her mother, a producer. Hunter was twin to her younger sister. As a child she started performing. In fact, by seven She had auditioned for a number of commercials. She became interested in acting quickly, and she was shortly thereafter in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. Johansson played the lead role as a character in Just Cause (1995), prior to her breakthrough in the film Manny & Lo - a story of two sisters and orphans, who manage to get away. After that, she earned high praise from critics for her performance as an teen girl who experienced an accident which resulted in her being damaged as she appeared in The Horse Whisperer (1998). The film gained her more acclaim in Ghost World (2002) as the cynical outcast Rebecca.
